How to Prepare for the Gathering 6-21-14

“I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!” (Psalm 34:1-3 ESV)

This week we will be singing an old hymn, “There is a Fountain.”  This song has a beautiful refrain, “Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die” that contrasts with the graphic depiction of a “fountain filled with blood, drawn from Emmanuel’s veins.” But, this song is not meant to be odd and uncomfortable, as much as it is a metaphor for us. This song reminds us Jesus’ work on the cross is MORE than enough to cover our sinfulness and shame. (Notice the fountain is filled!) Find comfort in the redeeming love of Christ that carried Him to the cross to bear our burdens and make us clean. We are children of God and we are made new in Him!
